Microsystems Sales and Service
This Auxiliary section works closely with the Computer Services Department to ensure the computing needs of the Health Sciences Center are met in accordance with the best strategic direction while maximizing the resources available to individual users. Mission:Microsystems Sales and Services exists to provide the Health Sciences Center community with professional level technical assistance in procuring and maintaining personal computer software, hardware, and accessories. This Auxiliary section works closely with the Computer Services Department to ensure the computing needs of the Health Sciences Center are met in accordance with the best strategic direction while maximizing the resources available to individual users. Scope of Services: In addition, the section functions as an Authorized Repair Center for Apple, Dell & Gateway computer systems. The service team is authorized specifically under Dell’s Premier Access Level 2 program and Gateway’s Authorized Service Provider program. We also handle printer and peripheral repairs for H.P. & Lexmark products via established outsourcing contracts for printer repairs. The service team offers highly competitive service contracts for computer systems and peripherals. On average, Microsystems Sales & Services responds to 50-80 customer inquires per day, and prepares quotes for over 40 items each day. Our service team usually responds to all calls for service within 24 hours. Our customers order about $4 to $5 million dollars of technology products per year from Microsystems, and we currently serve ALL LSU Health Sciences Center departments. We place between 800-1200 computer system orders each year. We also work directly with the incoming LSUHSC School of Medicine students to support the computers which are part of the Computer Assisted Learning initiative in the new SOM curriculum which was established in Fall 2001. |
